Access to clean, safe, and well-maintained public toilets is an essential part of creating a welcoming and inclusive community. This project aims to review all council-managed public toilet facilities to identify areas for improvement, highlight what’s working well, and ensure these spaces meet the needs of all residents and visitors.
Through community engagement, on-site inspections, and data collection, we’ll assess the condition, accessibility, and cleanliness of public toilets across the region. The findings will help the council plan maintenance, upgrades, and potential new facilities to better serve the community.
Project Objectives
Identify Gaps and Needs Map existing public toilets and assess where additional facilities are needed based on population density, foot traffic, and accessibility.
Assess Condition and Maintenance Review the current state of each facility — including cleanliness, functionality, signage, accessibility, and safety — and highlight those needing repairs or upgrades.
Gather Community Feedback Collect insights from residents, visitors, and local businesses about their experiences and satisfaction with public toilets.
Promote Equity and Accessibility Ensure that facilities meet the needs of all users, including families with young children, people with disabilities, older adults, and gender-diverse individuals.
Inform Future Planning Provide evidence-based recommendations to support the council’s ongoing investment in public infrastructure and community wellbeing.
Step 2: Interactive Mapping Tool — Collecting Location-Based Feedback - Click Here to provide feedback on the council facilities To gather detailed, place-specific feedback on the state of facilities across the council area.
